Conor Nicholl is the creator of Sunflower Sports Solutions (S3). Conor has covered professional, collegiate and high school sports since Fall 2003. He has written multiple years for MLB.com, Hays Daily News, Sports In Kansas, Catch In Kansas, KPreps and Kansas Pregame magazine.
Since December 2007, Conor has covered high school sports in Kansas. For the last five-plus years, Conor has served as the lead writer for Sports In Kansas, the No. 1 most followed Kansas high school sports site with more than 250,000 social media followers. Conor has also served as the lead writer for KPreps for more than a decade. He is a Kansas Sports Writer of the Year and twice honored as Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association Media of the Year, among other awards.
Conor has regularly been a contributor to three radio shows: the KPreps statewide football program, and daily sports programs in Great Bend and Goodland.
Conor has long wanted to have a sports web site with not only stories and features, but statistical information that can be used to inform players, coaches, fans and media. Team statistical rankings for most high school sports, especially on the advanced level and basketball tempo-free numbers, is virtually non-existent.
In summer 2022, four coaches independently approached Conor about data. A veteran eight-man football coach asked where his team ranked in scoring defense. A Wichita-area volleyball coach asked about team rankings and all-time records. A Kansas City-area football coach asked about football stats. A well-known basketball coached inquired about per-possession data. Other inquires have followed, including from families asking about statistics to help with collegiate recruiting.
The data, stories, feature and game coverage does take time to compile, and we ask for a Subscription fee of either:
$6 per month or $60 a year and/or a paid advertisement.
With the help of web site developer Kasey McDowell (kmacwebdesign.com), S3 has built multiple databases:

Additionally, Conor is the author of "Efficiency Ratings," a 135-page book on baseball statistics, and served as a co-author on "Brothers Through the Bone," a history of Smith Center football, and KSHSAA's 50-year book on the football playoffs.
Conor lives in Hays with his wife and two daughters. He has served as head or assistant coach for more than 20 seasons of sports teams at the youth/rec/travel level, including flag football, soccer, boys' and girls' basketball, track and softball. Conor has won coaching awards from Hays and Ellis Recreation Commissions.
